Jib description:

Technical Abilities:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in professional software development.
• BS/MS degree in Computer Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Computer Science.
• Strong Programming Skills (Java and C) with direct professional experience.
• Familiarity with UI design and development of standalone desktop applications (Windows, Macintosh).
• Experience with J2SE and familiarity with Java Swing and other UI Java frameworks.
• Up to date knowledge of current Java and C development and configuration management tools.
• Familiarity developing Macintosh applications.
• Familiarity developing cross platform Macintosh and Windows applications.

 

Other info:

• Software Design Engineer should be responsible for the design and development of quality software components, desktop applications, education technology applications and software tools.
• Execution of commitments and providing status of deliverables.
• Providing status of issues and recommendations for possible solutions.
• Work with project management team in the development of an accurate and realistic project schedule.
• Work with software quality assurance team in the development and implementation of a detailed testing strategy.
• Work with customer and user interface (UI) teams in gathering end user requirements and translation into technical specifications.

 

Duties:

• Responsible for the successful implementation of architectural design and technical feasibility versus customer requirements for software components/applications for the Windows and Macintosh Operative Systems.
• Able to rapidly estimate workload from a high level description of a task.
• Able to rapidly synthesize and analyze ideas and concepts. Ability to synthesize requirements, create concepts, lead design decision-making, and keep customer focus at forefront of decision making process.
• Able to interact with multiple functional teams in order to satisfy the customer, schedule and quality needs of a given project.

 

• Software Design Engineer that can build and maintain a good relationship with all Functional teams in the organization.
• Be pro-active in learning the different aspects of the business and the people behind them. 
• Identify dependencies and deliverables needed to work efficiently with the other parts of the business.
• Investigate technical road blocks by analyzing product requirements.
• Able to rapidly prototype ideas and concepts. Ability to synthesize requirements, create concepts, lead design decision-making, and keep customer focus at forefront of decision making process.
• Work closely with internal co-development and outsourced sub-teams to maximize skills and efficiencies.
• Work with other engineers on designing and developing in a desktop and embedded environment.

 

Team & People Skills:

• Must be able to communicate well with both the strong technical engineers and management.
• Good Inter-personal skills are vital
• Excellent teaming and collaboration skills for working in a cross functional team environment.
• Clear/concise articulation needed; (orally and written).
• Should be self disciplined and driven to results.
